Prior to joining Caroline County Public Schools team, Dr. Parker served as the Assistant Superintendent for High School Education in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In this capacity he supervised and supported the leadership of 11 high schools and 4 alternative centers.
After serving 4 years as a surface warfare officer in the United States Navy, Dr. Parker began his teaching career in August, 1993 as a mathematics teacher at Bayside High School in Virginia Beach. Additionally, he served as the varsity wrestling coach from 1993-1999. In 1999 he was promoted to the position of Assistant Principal, and served at First Colonial High School. He returned to join the administrative team at Bayside High School in 2002.
From 2005-2013, he served as the Principal of Green Run High School in Virginia Beach. Under his leadership, Green Run High School was one of three schools in the nation to receive the CollegeBoard Inspiration Award in 2010. The award recognizes schools for creating a college-going culture as evident by student interest and participation in rigorous courses.
Dr. Parker received his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Norfolk State University and his Ph.D. in 2010, in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. In 2010 he resumed his teaching career as an adjunct professor with Averett University and Old Dominion University. He has a wife LaTonya, three daughters, Courtney, Adeja, and Kaila, and a son Langston.
